Monrovia, Liberia – February 13, 2025 – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has suspended Madam Emma Metieh-Glassco, Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA), effective immediately.
The decision follows a recommendation from the NAFAA Board of Directors, citing managerial and financial inefficiencies. The suspension aligns with Section 3.9.2 of the Act establishing NAFAA, pending further investigation by the Ministry of Justice and the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).
Additionally, President Boakai referenced a communication from the Office of the Ombudsman, which recommended Glassco’s suspension due to allegations of insulting behavior during an official investigation meeting. This conduct, deemed inappropriate for a public official, falls under Section 11.10 of the Code of Conduct Act.
The President has urged Glassco to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations to ensure transparency and accountability.
Further developments are expected as the inquiry progresses.
