Monrovia, Liberia – February 21, 2025– The appointment of Delino J. Kollie as County Health Services Administrator for Grand Cape Mount County has been met with strong opposition from both local residents and Senator Dabah Varpilah, who are questioning his qualifications for the role.

The decision, made by Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Health, Martha Morris, replaces Jonah Tokpah, a widely respected administrator who served the county for over four years. Many believe that Kollie, a trained nurse with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, lacks the necessary administrative experience required for such a crucial position.

Residents and community leaders have voiced their concerns, emphasizing the need for competent leadership in the county’s health sector, especially in a region where efficient healthcare administration is essential.

Senator Dabah Varpilah has also joined the call for reconsideration, urging the Ministry of Health to prioritize experience and administrative competence in key appointments affecting public health services.

As tensions rise over the controversial appointment, stakeholders are awaiting a response from the Ministry of Health on whether it will uphold or reconsider the decision.

More details to follow as the situation unfolds.
