Margibi County, Liberia — The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has taken decisive disciplinary action against its Margibi County Commander, Special Agent Mentor A. Yormie, following the escape of a female drug suspect from custody in the county.

In a statement issued for immediate release, the LDEA announced that Special Agent Yormie has been disrobed and removed from duty with immediate effect and handed over to the agency’s Internal Board of Inquiry and Professional Standards for a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s escape.

According to the LDEA, the suspect was being held on narcotics-related charges when she reportedly fled custody under circumstances that remain unclear. The incident has raised serious concerns about custodial procedures, security lapses, and supervisory oversight at the Margibi County command.

LDEA leadership emphasized that the action reflects the agency’s zero-tolerance policy toward breaches of protocol, especially at a time when Liberia continues to battle the growing threat of drug trafficking and abuse.
