Internews Liberia in collaboration with the Association of Liberia community radios (ALICOR) has ended a two days in house capacity building training for the advisory board and management team of voice of pleebo community radio station in Pleebo, Maryland County.
The training started on Monday, March 4,2024 at the Pleebo Youths center and brought together 11 advisory board members from different sectors and VOP management team respectively.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop ,Rev. Joseph P. Wholuba advisory board chair welcomed participants and thanks internews Liberia for the long term partnership with voice of pleebo ,thus encouraging participants to to take advantage of the opportunity.
Giving the over view of the training was Mr. Armstrong Bee lead facilitator who emphasized on significant intervention made by internews Liberia with fundings from USAID towards partner stations, ranging from capacity buildings , technical support and amongst other.
Commenting further, Mr. Armstrong Bee added that the suplies of radio equipments which include transmitters, mixers and other studio equipments to partner radio stations across Liberia prior to 2023 election was a major boost to community radios.
He stressed that internews 2024 section one’s project is to train partner community radio stations advisory board members and management team for the smooth and effective operation of its partner stations across the country.
For his part, Ojuay Mella vice president of the Association of Liberia Community Radios (ALICOR) described the advisory board as the “back bone” of each community radio.
Mr. Mella used the occasion to encourage the advisory board of Voice of Pleebo to work in the interest of the community.
The ALICOR vice president Mr. Ojuay Mella than thanked internews liberia for the partnership with community radios across Liberia.
Moreover, Seo -Weh Sumo internews southeastern technical supervisor said it’s an advantage for Voice of Pleebo to be under her supervision through internews, stating that the training will enhance the functions of both the advisory board members and the management of voice of Pleebo.
She at the sometimes lauded the efforts of participants for taking advantage of the training and challenged them to apply what they have learned during the training in the interest of the community.
