Foya City, Lofa County – A 20-year-old mother identified as Mary Tamba is appealing for urgent assistance after giving birth to triplets under difficult financial and emotional conditions in Foya City.

Mary, who already had one child before the recent pregnancy, delivered the triplets through a Caesarean section at Foya Boma Hospital a few weeks ago. Since the birth, the young mother and her family have reportedly been struggling to survive.

According to Mary, her elderly mother, who earns a living by selling greens in the local market, has been unable to fully settle a hospital bill estimated at around LD$25,000 following the operation. The family is also facing difficulties providing food, clothing, medication, and other essential needs for the newborn babies.

Mary explained that the children’s father traveled to neighboring Guinea during her pregnancy in search of work opportunities to support the family. However, she said he has been unable to return due to the ongoing border closure connected to the Sorlumba border dispute.

The young mother says no humanitarian organization or institution has yet provided assistance since the birth of the triplets, leaving the family in severe hardship.

The situation has drawn sympathy from residents in the area, with many describing it as another reflection of the challenges faced by struggling families in rural communities, including poverty, limited healthcare support, and unemployment.

Mary Tamba is now calling on compassionate individuals, humanitarian organizations, and government institutions to come to the aid of her family and help support the survival and wellbeing of the children.

Family members say anyone willing to assist can contact Mary’s sister through the number: 0773163678.
