Bong-In the quest to creat safety mining practice in Liberia, The Youth Action Lead Liberia has ended a day long meeting with authority of David Dean Town in Kokoyah District, Bong County.
According to the Executive Director of Youth Action Lead Liberia Mr. Edwin Boakai the meeting was purposes organized  to meet local authority of the town to discuss about his organization up coming activities in the town, title Empowering communities for climate justice through legal empowerment strategies and safe mining project in Liberia.



Mr. Boakai told the local authority of David Dean Town during the meeting that the project aim to engage artisanal and small scale miners, in the affected communities by providing them with tool and knowledge necessary to practice safe mining and advocate for their rights, while promoting environmental conservation with in the next two years.

The meeting which was staged in David Dean Town brought together representatives from Youth Action Lead Liberia, the local authority of David Dean Town to discuss about their well being , when it comes to the organization taking the initiative to educate community dwellers about their benefits.

Youth Action Lead Liberia is a non governmental Youth organization that is working with over five affected communities in Bong County to create awareness on safety mining practice in their communities.

David Dean Town, in Kokoyah District, Bong County is one of the towns in the county that is highly hit by mining activities, some thing the citizens continue to alarmed about their safety and benefits as affected community.

Mr. Boakai assured the local authority of the town his organization committeemen in work with the people of David Dean Town to curtail some of the challenges they are encountering with miners in their area.

Also speaking some of the local chiefs lauded the Youth Action Lead Liberia headed by Mr. Edwin Boakai and his team for  organizing such a meeting to gather the views of local authority regarding the mining activities in David Dean Town,  Kokoyah District, Bong County.

The local authority of the area narrated that the community is not actually benefiting from those miners who are digging goal on their land, and however called on the Youth Action Lead Liberia to see reason and work with the community, through the engagement process with the miners and affected community.

Youth Action Lead Liberia is now running two years project in Bong County, in order to carry an awareness on safety mining and climax justice.

According to Mr. Edwin Boakai, the title of the two years project is Empowering Community Climate Justice through Legal Empowerment Strategies and Safe Artisanal Mining Practices in Liberia.

He however disclosed to the local authorities of the town that Youth Action Lead Liberia will also be involved in to providing agriculture materials for affected communities, in order to engage in to agriculture activities with in the course of the two years of their project.

Mr. Boakai narrated that the organization will provide seeds and other working materials for the affected communities that they are operating in for the smooth operation of their agriculture components.
